Today we made carrot cookies from a World War Two rationing recipe. The children revised their learning from earlier in the term about the reasons why Britain had to ration food and other goods during the Second World War. Watch this clip to find out more: World War 2 Rationing
They then worked in groups to make their delicious and healthy carrot cookies. Afterwards, everyone had an opportunity to taste their food and evaluate what went well and what they might do next time to improve the recipe. Children suggested trying different fruit or vegetables such as parsnips, strawberries or blueberries. The overwhelming response was that the cookies were delicious and even ‘heavenly”.
