Year 4 visited the Ashmolean Museum on Monday 20th January as part of their topic Stone Age to Iron Age. The children participated in a fun learning and activity session led by a member of the museum’s education staff. They looked closely at the exhibits and also worked together to identify artefacts from different time periods. They examined examples of pottery, flint, tools and jewelry. We were all surprised to see how long ago the Stone Age people lived compared to us now and we were fascinated by the example of a late Neolithic example of a lakeside alpine community and how they lived and worked together. The children had a brilliant time, behaved impeccably and participated enthusiastically, discovering many new facts about life in the Stone, Bronze and Iron Age.
