Year 2 Prayer Service – Wednesday 17th October 2018

Year 2 prepared a liturgy for their parents on Our Lady of the Rosary. October is a special month for the Rosary and Oct 7th was the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary.

The rosary is a set of prayers which help us to reflect on key moments in the life of Christ.

Saint Dominic was one of the first people to say the Rosary. Dominic was a priest who lived a long time ago. He lived a very simple life and prayed a lot.

Our Lady appeared to Dominic and showed him a wreath of roses and told him about the Rosary. She told him to say the Rosary daily and teach it to others.

The word Rosary means “Crown of Roses”. Our Lady said that each time someone says a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses.

Just as we listen to our favourite songs over and over again. We can say the Rosary, over and over again, throughout our lives.
