As part of our work on Prayer, Year 3 children visited the Parish Church on Tuesday 20th February to explore some of the different places in a Catholic Church that are special for prayer. We noted the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, lighting candles, the way of the cross, blessing with holy water, confessional and other sacred images. Sketches were done as a way of recording special items.
The children had moments to sit and think about what they could see and how they felt and what that might tell them about the importance of prayer. On returning to school the children wrote reflections about the Church and how it made them feel about their own personal prayer life.
