Jubilee Year

In the Catholic Church, a Jubilee or Holy Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, in which people are invited to come back into a right relationship with God, with one another, and with all creation.

The 2025 Jubilee Year began on Christmas Eve 2024 and concludes on 6th January 2026.

The theme for the Jubilee is Pilgrims of Hope. Pope Francis has invited Catholics to renew our hope and discover a vision that can ‘restore access to the fruits of the earth to everyone’. We are also invited to rediscover a spirituality of God’s creation in which we understand ourselves as ‘pilgrims on the earth’ rather than masters of the world.

At St Thomas More School we held a Jubilee launch day on Friday 24th January and gathered together to watch the Jubilee launch day film. Class teachers planned special follow-up activities to do in their classrooms which have been displayed in school and in our RE Learning Journals.

On Thursday 30th January, our Year 6 Confirmation candidates attended the Jubilee Mass at Blessed Dominic Barberi church in Littlemore along with pupils from schools across the PFMAC.

Blessed Dominc Barberi church & St John Henry Newman College, have been chosen by His Grace as a place of pilgrimage. For more information about Jubilee churches in our Archdiocese please see Birmingham Diocese The-jubilee-year-2025

Pope Francis says:
“By our actions, our words, the decisions we make each day, our patient efforts to sow seeds of beauty and kindness wherever we find ourselves, we want to sing of hope…and reawaken in every heart the joy and the courage to embrace life to the full.”
