We are so very grateful to Callum O’ Dowda for officially opening our new multi games area yesterday. Callum and his girlfriend Izzy, gave up their time to celebrate with us on this special day. Callum is a local Kidlington lad and he currently plays for Bristol City and for Ireland too. This is a fantastic achievement for one of our past pupils here at St Thomas More. (I’m hoping he can play for Leeds in the future) 😉
In school we have the Callum O’Dowda cup, which is presented to the children for outstanding effort or achievement in a sporting field. Past winners of this cup, also attended the opening and can be seen below with our current winners of this trophy.
After the opening, Callum very kindly led a training session with some of the children, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Mrs Evans (a parent of the school) also led a netball session with the children too which was wonderful to see.
Callum and Izzy then met the parents and governors and helped bring drinks to the children around the school as everyone celebrated the grand opening.
Callum very kindly donated a signed Ireland shirt to the school inscribed with the message
‘Dear St Thomas More,
Great to be back here where it all started. Thanks for having me.’
