About Us
St Thomas More Friends Association supports St Thomas More Catholic Primary School through fundraising and social events. The role of Friends is to raise money to help our school provide materials, resources and facilities for the benefit of everyone who uses our school.
Through our events and fundraising throughout the school year we aim to bring staff, parents, children and supporters together in the common goal of enriching the learning experience at St Thomas More.
Funds Raised and Events
Over the year Friends have been able to support the school in purchasing much needed equipment and supplies, including computer tablets, headphones, digital cameras, interactive white boards, laptop trollies and chargers and library books, as well as contributing to the Year 6 end of school celebrations. They have also funded much bigger projects, such as purchasing a school minibus and redeveloping the main, reception and nursery playgrounds including helping to pay towards the installation of the astro turf.
Some examples of our past events include:
- Dressing Up Days, After School Cafes and Raffles
- Christmas Wreath Making, Secret Santa and Christmas Cards
- Exeter Hall Craft Fair (Spring and Christmas)
- Evenings for International Food, Ladies, Bingo, Curry and Films
- School Discos and Fairs
So far this year we have spent PFTA funds on Mental Wellbeing Leaders, A beautiful Historical Timeline for all children to enjoy, Nursery Resources for The Ark.£1000 donation books for the library.
Friends Committee
How can I get involved?
All parents / carers are invited to become involved in and support the Friends. To find out how you can help please come along to our meetings. The Committee meet about twice per term both in person and via zoom, with smaller working group meetings as necessary when we are planning larger events.
Getting involved in Friends is also great way of meeting and getting to know other parents and families within the school community.
You can support us in many different ways:
- by ATTENDING our events,
- by VOLUNTEERING your time, services or skills,
- by DONATING ITEMS for raffles, events or prizes (or even donating money)
Let us know if you have skills that can be useful:
- Can you DJ a disco?
- Can you bake a cake or cook food to donate at an event?
- Can your business offer a donation to our charity?
- Can you help with advertising of our events?
