The School Day

Nursery

The day is divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon.  The morning session is from 8.45am to 11:45am and the afternoon session is from 12:15-3.15pm.  Children may stay for lunch until 12:30 for an additional cost. Please contact the school office for further information about how to book this.

Fruit is provided for children to eat during their snack time.

Reception Class, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2

The school day starts at 8:45 and ends at 3:15.  It is divided into two teaching sessions, morning and afternoon.

In Key Stage 1 there is a morning break between 10:15 and 10:30 .  Key Stage 2 have morning break between 10:30 -10:45. During break time, children are encouraged to eat a healthy snack.  Fruit is provided for Reception and Key Stage 1 children and Key Stage 2 should bring a healthy snack in.

Lunch is between 12:00pm and 12:45pm. Many of our children have a hot school dinner each day while others choose to have a packed lunch.

Whole School

Drop off and collection: Children should not arrive in school before 8.40am as they cannot be supervised before then.  All children should enter through the school playground when the gates are unlocked. Those who arrive after 8:50 am should report to the school office to be registered and admitted to their class.  They should be collected after school at 3:15 from a designated point on the playground.  In an emergency, children will wait in the entrance hall until collected by the parent or guardian.

At the beginning and end of the school day, children are encouraged to make their way straight to their classrooms where adults will be waiting for them. This helps to promote independence. We want to have good links with all parents and if parents need to speak to the class teacher, please try to do this at the start of end of the school day wherever possible. At the start of each academic year, we will seek written information about who has permission to collect your child each day of the week.  If normal arrangements have to be altered (e.g. another person is collecting your child) this must be passed on to the teacher in writing.  In case of an emergency, a phone call to the school office would be acceptable.

Getting to School

Getting to School: To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! This provides multiple benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks.

Children who come to school on a bicycle must not ride their bicycle on the school approaches.  Parents are asked to ensure that their child’s bicycle complies with the legal requirements i.e. brakes that work effectively, a bell and reflectors.  This request is endorsed by the Governors who reserve the right to refuse a child permission to come to school on a bicycle.

If you do need to travel by car, please park wisely.  Due to a shortage of car parking space and for the safety of children, parents are requested NOT to drive their cars up to the school OR park in the priest’s car park.

Wrap Around Care

Wrap Around Care: Although the school day ends at 3:15, we do provide different school clubs and full wrap around care until 5.15pm.  Breakfast Club care begins at 7:30am.
