Friends of St Thomas More
September Newsletter
We’re back to school and we’d like to welcome the new parents and children that have joined the school!
We hope that everyone had a great summer holiday.

Thank you to everyone who helped with Wimbledon week at the end of the last term, I think everyone would agree that these small events at the end of school are very popular with the children and parents. The atmosphere is great and although very brief, it is a great social environment for everyone to have a quick catch up while having food and drink! We would like to continue to organise these small events, so if anyone has any themed ideas and would like to run a small event at any time, please let us know.

Please remember that Friends of St Thomas More continually raise money to fund school projects, such as new books for the library, technology equipment, school trips and parties, play equipment for the children and we hope to contribute towards other future projects!

Without Friends of St Thomas More, the school would not be able to fund these extra purchases which make such a difference to the progression of learning and development of our children.

We would like to start getting names and dishes down on a list, so please email us with your food donations. You may wish to donate on the day or you you can serve your dishes yourself and talk to everyone, who will almost certainly want you to share your recipe! Parent View
Please register and give feedback to Ofsted. This is very important and so far there have been only 11 responses!
The process is very quick and simple… register today!

Parent View gives you the chance to tell us what you think about your child’s school.

Parent View asks for your opinion on 12 aspects of your child’s school, from the quality of teaching, to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. We will use the information you provide when making decisions about which schools to inspect, and when.

When inspecting education in independent schools, we recommend when inspection should take place but inspect at the request of the DfE.

Watch a screencast: how to register and complete a survey on Parent View.

By sharing your views, you’ll be helping your child’s school to improve. You will also be able to see what other parents have said about your child’s school. Or, if you want to, view the results for any school in England.

Our toolkit explains key facts about Parent View and contains materials that can be adapted and used by schools to raise awareness of Parent View to parents.

Only 18 members so far… Please sign up to easfundraising.org.uk before you make any online purchases!

MARCH 2015

We have made it to the end of a short, but very busy term. There have been lots of things going on so we thought that we’d share them with you…

A Friends AGM was held on the 17th March, where some volunteers handed over the reigns after a few good years on the Friends committee. After a positive meeting, we have a list of new volunteers who wanted to get involved (roles yet to be decided) which is fantastic. It is never too late to get involved! Our next meeting will be at school on Tuesday 14th April at 7:30pm, everyone is invited, so please come along to find out more, or to see how you can help. Suggestions and ideas are always welcome.

A big thank you goes out to Andy Lord, Stephen Finn, Magda Rodzynska and Clare Allen for all of their commitment and hard work over the years. Clare will remain as treasurer.

Our email address has changed to friends.stmore@gmail.com If you want to get in touch please do so, we would love to hear from you!

March Craft Fair
The March craft fair was a great success as ever. The final total is yet to be confirmed, however we have made a really good amount of money for the school. What a great achievement. Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered, without your help we would be unable to organise such events!. A big thank you to our Craft Fair organiser, Rachel Evans, Clare Allen for the preparations and Stephen Finn for managing the Kitchen.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt “Lucky Squares” gave a great buzz to the end of the school days this week. Thank you to everyone who bought squares and really got involved. This raised £82.50 for the school. The winners of the Easter eggs were: Renzo, Naomi and Clara, well done! Thank you to Mrs Hamper for getting involved and drawing the lucky winners during assembly.
